Halloween

Every year
near the end of October the students of Aya have an opportunity to celebrate
Halloween. Past events included Haunted Houses, Trick or Treating, costume
and coloring contests along with a carnival like atmosphere of various
games to challenge even the best of witches or goblins.
Halloween
and it's various customs and legends from around the world are introduced
to the students of Aya Elementary school before the event. The students
hopefully have some understanding of the history and legends of Halloween
when it comes time to celebrate or maybe they would just rather eat the
candy and have fun.
Winter
Fun
Winter Fun
is just that. Winter fun! During the cold winter months students are invited
for a day of fun. Guests representing other countries are also invited.
In
past events countries such as Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore
and the Untied States were represented. When the afternoon is finished
hopefully everyone leaves with a sense of how having fun is without boundaries.

Singapore
Home stay

The Singapore
Home stay program began in June 2000. Organized and supported by the Aya
Board of Education and Aya Junior High School, it offers students the
opportunity of living in a multi cultural environment first hand.
About 30 students
and 5 adults from Aya visit Singapore in August. In December students
from Singapore visit Aya. Students prepare before hand studying the culture,
language as well as learning what the two countries have in common.
